When Jesus redeems us, He unites us to Himself, but also to His church. By the mercy of Jesus, we are brought into a family of fellow sinners saved by grace through faith. The local church is a body of believers, committed to one another under the headship of Jesus Christ. As a church, we are to strive for holiness and also foster each other’s faith. God saves us individually, but He brings us into His family to do life and mission together. The Holy Spirit has equipped believers with gifts we are to use within the church body for the purpose of building each other up in the Lord.
